Afra van der Markt

Afra van der Markt is a psychiatrist and researcher with a passion for transcultural psychiatry. She has over three years of experience working as a psychiatrist in the Netherlands, at a high care in-patient clinic and at an out-patient clinic for bipolar disorders. In early 2023, she completed her PhD at the Amsterdam UMC, and shortly afterwards, she moved to Nairobi with her family.

In April, she started at the Shamiri Institute as a part-time researcher, followed by a promotion to position as Director of Innovations and Insights and Clinical Operations.
