Hilda is a trained Psychologist with over 10 years of experience. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the United States International University-Africa and a Master of Science degree in Developmental Psychology from Lancaster University, UK. Hilda is an accredited member of the Kenya Counselors and Psychologists Association (KCPA). During her career, Hilda has worked with the victims of Gender-Based Violence through policy development and direct service provision. She has also successfully led the implementation of successful innovative campaigns in support of victims of human rights violations. Before joining Shamiri, Hilda led the psychological rehabilitation docket at the Independent Medico Legal Unit (IMLU). At IMLU, she oversaw the provision of psychological support to victims of torture as well as the training and supervision of over 60 mental health practitioners. She has directly contributed to the establishment and implementation of psychological assessment tools and strategies for the protection of Human Rights. Hilda has also been extensively involved in piloting new methodologies and innovative approaches through activities such as publishing the first Manual on Forensic medical legal documentation, and the review and drafting of training manuals for the Independent Policing Oversight Authority. Hilda is passionate about mental health and enjoys working with young people. When not working, she enjoys watching documentaries, fun sports such as bike riding & zip lining, travelling, and reading.
